Growing Opportunities: Will Funding Follow the Rise in Foundation Assets and Growth of AAPI Populations? *new* Read the Full Report (PDF) The giving trends of the top U.S. foundations to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities has not kept pace with the growth of these communities or of foundation assets, according to a new report released on June 21, 2007 by AAPIP. The report, Growing Opportunities, looks at the country's top 20 national foundations' grantmaking between 1990 and 2002 and finds significant funding disparities to AAPI communities in several areas. The report concludes with a call to action to the philanthropy field to reduce these gaps.

Voices of Pacific Island Women Residing in the Pacific Northwest: Reflections on Health, Economics, Education and More*new* Read the Full Report (PDF) The 2000 U.S. Census reported that the state of Washington has the third-largest Pacific Islander population in the United States. Although little is published locally or Nationally about this population, organizations, schools and government departments have identified Pacific Islanders has having some of the greatest health, economic and education disparities in this country. These issues initiated the establishment of the Pacific Island Women's Association (PIWA). This groundbreaking report contains three important areas of focus: background information on the Pacific Island community in the State of Washington, information gathered at a community forum held by PIWA, and the successes and recommendations for further work in the Pacific Island community.

	Briefing Paper on the Health Impacts of Criminalization on Asian Pacific American Children, Youth and Families Read the Executive Summary (PDF) Download the Full Paper (PDF) In California, AAPIs comprise only 3.4% of the prison population, however it is a rapidly growing population, especially among youth offenders. Furthermore, post 9/11 immigration policies as well as increased enforcement of the Illegal Reform and Immigration Responsibility Act (IIRIRA) of 1996 have led to the detention and deportation of thousands of men and boys of South Asian, Muslim, Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian descent. Funded by a grant from The California Wellness Foundation, this project gathers baseline data on the health impacts of criminalization and incarceration on AAPI children, youth and families.

Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim and South Asian Communities in the San Francisco Bay Area: An Introduction to Grantmakers This report by Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP) and Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR), highlights some of the issues, challenges, and concerns facing these communities post-September 11th. Though the report is focused on the San Francisco Bay Area, we believe that the information and recommendations in this paper resonates throughout the country, especially in communities with large or growing Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim and South Asian populations.

Commissioned by the Ford Foundation to write a report on the issues and concerns of Asian American women, Lora Jo Foo exposes the everyday realities for Asian American women of hunger, illness, homelessness, sweatshop labor, exposure to hazardous chemicals, and involuntary servitude. This book is the precursor to the groundbreaking National Gender and Equity Campaign.
